The Garden's Glory:
As I write this, Scotland is midway through it's 15th week of quarantine. This strange time of isolation and global panic has thrown many difficulties at all of us, which I need not delve into here! However, for myself there have been some very positive side effects to this period of slow, isolated living. One of these benefits has been the space and time it has allowed for my creativity to expand from commission pieces into dabbling in original artworks that I have had waiting in the wings for a few years now.
So, with that being said, I am so thrilled to officially announce my first ever series of original artwork! This has been such a long time in the making and actually turned out slightly different to my original plan! In a break between commissions I gave myself a challenge to draw four miniature portraits of some of my favourite insects. This little experiment soon blossomed into a 16-part series of miniature artworks of just a selection of the beautiful creatures we share our gardens with, both rural and urban. The journey to create the series has been both exciting and an absolute pleasure. The best parts have been having the opportunity to really study the intricacies of these tiny creatures up close. That, and the lovely reactions I received from my followers as I shared the process of each new portrait on my social media platforms. So thank you to all of my followers for every like, comment, message and share; it means more than you know to me as I navigate starting this little artwork business. After a little bit of a delay (thanks, COVID) I am excited to announce that I have a selection of prints available for purchase of this lovely collection. I am just delighted with how they have turned out too. Each print has been expertly printed in Glasgow onto Acid and Lignin Free Hahnemühle German Etching paper using Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink. Both of these are regarded throughout the world as the some of the highest quality for fine art printing services with the highest age resistance. This means that each print will last for decades without any loss or fade of quality and pigment. The prints will all come carefully packaged as well as being signed and dated by myself.
Now, myself and my partner (Kylonian Design) are putting our heads together to set up a shop here to make all of our lives easier! However, anybody interested in purchasing a print can simply email me here and I can take your order the old fashioned way until the site is set up. I'm afraid you will have to bear with me until I get the knack of it for now!
Prints come in two sizes: 8x8 inches - £18 each 6x6 inches - £15 each There are also prices for sets of 3, 4 and 6 which I can let you know on request.
The original pieces will also be available in due course! I will provide updates on that and they will be added to my shop when I have everything in order.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has supported my journey thus far! I have many more exciting updates to come and hope you will all love them as much as I do!
Best wishes to you all and continue to stay safe,
